The Angel, Hetton

If you are a returning reader you will have heard me bang on in many a post about my other half, Tom. ‘Tom ate this’ ‘Tom drank that’ kinda thing. Well as of tomorrow he will be a Northerner down under. He is flying away to start a new job in sunny Australia! We are incredibly excited about this wonderful opportunity, stay tuned for posts of his adventures in Oz and some of my own {in time}.

Anyway, back to the Angel. With little notice of his sudden departure I decided to whisk him away for a weekend of relaxation, pampering and some pretty amazing food…

One of life’s greatest pleasures is slipping into a huge, crisp hotel bed after a long day of relaxing, bubble baths, champagne and a very full tummy. The Angel is the perfect place to indulge in all of the above.

We stayed in the garden suite which can only be described as heavenly. It’s bright, chic and very cosy. The perfect place to unwind.

After a long soak we got ready for dinner.

Our appetites went into absolute overdrive when we were kindly brought these delectable pre dinner amuse-bouche.

After a couple of gin and tonics by the roaring log fire we were ready for a darn good meal. First off another little amouse-bouche, compliments of the chef. Chicken liver pate with a caramelised red onion crostini.

I started with Yellison Goats Cheese Tomato Tart, rocket and a pesto dressing. So simple and so delicious I will be dreaming about it for weeks!

Tom started with Ham Hock, Quail Egg and Pineapple Jelly Terrine with a mini prune and walnut loaf.

We both decided to go for the big old hunk-a-meat steak for main course. Chargrilled Waterford House Beef Fillet, twice cooked chunky chips, sautéed green beans, foie gras tortellini, shallot puree, truffle red wine sauce. *DROOL*

For pudding I had a chocolate and espresso platter.

And Tom a spicy Upside Down Plum Sponge with a coconut cream cheese sorbet and plum sauce. Again, drool worthy.

After dinner we snook off back to our room. Belly rubbingly full and happy as can be.

We were up bright and early for a full Yorkshire breakfast with all the trimmings.

If you are looking for a little weekend away, The Angel is always a winner. It’s tucked away up a winding road, isolated amongst the Yorkshire Moors making you feel a million miles from the stresses of everyday life. The rooms are wonderful, the staff are fabulous and the food will have you returning before you know it. It’s an absolute idyllic couples retreat, perfect for a cheeky Valentines get away.

HERE is a link to the website with all the details you could possibly need. I Highly recmomed the Garden suite. Oh, and the goats cheese tart!

Firstly the food sounds and looks delish!!! Secondly how far is the drive from Chester? Is it easy to find? Is there a local train station?

Love your blog btw! Molly xx

    • Thanks Molly! Looking online train stations are pretty far and with it being a distance from the centre I would recommend driving, definitely the easier option 🙂 x

  • So beautiful I would love to be there now x

  • That’s a cute four poster bed. You don’t see those too often. it has an antique look that I like.

The texture on the bathrobes makes them look like they would feel good on the skin and as you mentioned, at the end of a wonderful day, more luxury just makes the day more memorable. You want to have a perfect day and then slip into a bathrobe that allows you to relax even more.

The food looks really good. I expect that you really had a lot of fun that night. Thanks for sharing the pictures with your readers.
