I’m a big fan sandwiches.
I don’t mean those flimsy, little things you buy in plastic from your local supermarket.
I’m talking an absolute beast, oozing its’ fillings all over the place and seducing you with a glance.
There is a little joint in Manchester that has it all going on.
A little stall/shack on the Northern Quarter end of town. They serve up the mac daddies of the sandwich world. The menu changes quite regularly so I had to visit twice, naturally.
On my first visit I went for the ‘pig on a lead’ – Phwoar! Just look at the beautiful thing. Grilled cheese, BBQ pulled pork and a generous helping of mac n cheese.
The second visit was a bit of a sharer.
The Croque Monsoul was spectacularly naughty and possibly the best variation of this classic I have ever tried. Thick cut ham with a duvet like layer of cheese to tuck it in and a mustardy cheese layer on top. Unreal.
Next up was the buffalo chicken.
Crispy, tasty chicken and a hell of a buffalo wing sauce that just sent us over the edge.
I’m unspeakably thrilled to have such a fantastically filthy sandwich spot on this side of town.
